EEL-A01 Battery 14.3 kWh with active 4 A balancer

EEL-A01 battery
The battery is unique in that it uses cells with a longer cycle life than other, smaller capacity batteries on the market. It is made of 16 selected branded cells from EVE. The cells are not traditionally laser-welded, but screwed together, which allows for extended real-life durability and potential repairability. Please read this manual carefully so that the battery serves you for many years to your satisfaction.

Transport
Transport the battery to its destination using four handles and four people. When using handling equipment, the handles must not be used due to the possibility of uneven loading, overloading of the handles, and potential battery drop. Do not overestimate your own strength and ensure assistance from other people during transport.

Installation and setup
Electrical installation and inverter setup must be carried out by a qualified professional.

Battery placement and operating conditions

  • Protect the battery from mechanical damage and do not expose it to radiant heat
  • The battery can be operated in a horizontal position, vertical position, or on its side
  • In the room where the inverter and battery are located, we recommend placing fire alarms
  • The ambient air temperature during operation should be between 15-35 °C
  • The battery must not be placed in an excessively humid environment
  • Battery operation is also possible in the range of 0-15 °C and 35-45 °C with lower current settings in the inverter. The battery must not be charged at temperatures below 0 °C and above 45 °C, which is ensured by the battery's internal protection. Alternatively, the battery must be equipped with internal heating

    • Electrical installation

  • For small current losses in the conductors, we recommend placement as close as possible to the appliance or solar inverter
  • Use a cable with a cross-section of 50 mm2 for inverters up to 10 kW and 70 mm2 for stronger inverters or longer leads than 3 m
  • When connecting multiple batteries in parallel, always use cables of identical length from all batteries to one point, from where a pair of stronger cables then lead to the inverter
  • Each battery has basic protection with a 250 A ceramic fuse or 250 A DC circuit breaker. We recommend supplementing the protection with a fast fuse for semiconductor inverters
  • The battery is factory-opened in both directions at 195 A. The maximum continuous current for charging the battery is 140 A to maintain its maximum lifespan. Discharging is limited to 195 A, the BMS does not allow more
  • It is assumed that the battery communicates with the inverter and there is no need to set the voltage. If communication is not possible, set the absorption voltage to 57.6 V and the float voltage to 54 V. Turn off at 48 V
  • Optimally set on the inverter: charging 140 A, discharging 160 A
  • Recommended maximum charging voltage 57.6 V

    • Cycle life and current load capacity

  • The LiFePO4 battery achieves a laboratory cycle life of 8000 cycles with a decrease to 70% of the original capacity. Realistically, we can count on a 10-20 year lifespan
  • The recommended current for maximum battery life is 140 A
  • If needed, we can also use a higher setting, up to 180 A for power up to 9 kW, which allows the use of one battery even for inverters with a total power of 10 and 12 kW

    • Protection and monitoring

  • The battery is protected and maintained by sophisticated electronics, including a powerful 4 A active balancer
  • The battery can be monitored down to the voltage level of individual cells via Bluetooth. Parameter editing is possible only with the consent of the manufacturer or installation company. Defects caused by unprofessional intervention are not covered by the warranty

    • Maintenance

  • Simple battery maintenance consists of charging the battery to 100% at least once a month
  • The battery must not be kept completely discharged. There is a risk of battery degradation

  • The battery has a 5-year warranty
  • The warranty does not apply to normal capacity decrease, which depends on the usage method and number of charging cycles

    Instructions for connecting Deye Inverter with EEL battery

    Communication connection
    Cable: Use the included cable that comes with the inverter, or any other LAN Ethernet RJ-45 network cable.
    Ports: Connect the cable to the BMS port on the Deye inverter and to the CAN socket on the battery. Deye settings: On the Deye inverter, select Lithium mode. Leave the address on Deye at the default value of 00.

    Parallel battery connection
    DIP switches: For parallel connection of multiple batteries, it is necessary to set the DIP switches.

    Example for 2 batteries
    For the main battery (Master), set DIP switch 5 up.
    For the secondary battery (Slave), set DIP switch 1 up.
    Cable connection: Connect the batteries to each other with the same LAN cable. From the master's rightmost 485 socket to the middle socket on the slave battery.

    Power connection
    Option 1: Connect the batteries with a short cable plus to plus and minus to minus. Then lead cables from the first battery to the inverter (plus from the first battery and minus from the second battery).
    Option 2: Lead a 50 mm2 cable from each battery to one point, for example to a DC disconnector or fuses. There, join the pluses and minuses together and then lead with one stronger cable (70 mm2) to the inverter.

    Summary
    This procedure will allow you to safely and effectively connect the Deye inverter to your battery system. Make sure all connections are firm and secure, and that the settings on the device are correct to ensure proper system functionality.
    The battery has screw terminals for 8mm cable lugs.
