The user-friendly MPPT controller is designed to manage the flow of energy from a solar panel or power source to batteries and appliances. It operates with 12 V or 24 V systems and currents up to 30 A. The maximum input voltage is 100 V.
The XTRA series of solar controllers is a new generation, following the TracerA series. It improves the MPPT algorithm, which is beneficial during rapid shading changes, and adds direct support for LiFePO4 batteries. Support for lead-acid/GEL/AGM batteries is standard.
This solar controller is suitable for a wide range of off-grid applications, such as cottages, homes, etc.
It is also suitable for use in vehicles thanks to the option of negative pole grounding.
The MPPT controller has an integrated multifunctional display for easy system monitoring and setting of operational parameters, including control LED indicators. Through the display, you can set everything except the user-defined battery values, which are configured through the accessories mentioned below.
The maximum charging current to the battery for this model is 30 A, which corresponds to a panel output of 390 Wp for a 12V battery or 780 Wp for a 24V battery. If the panel provides a higher output, the controller will limit it to its maximum capacity. However, the power of the PV panels must not exceed 1.5 times the nominal power of the controller!
The open-circuit voltage, referred to as Voc, must never exceed 100 V—exceeding this value will permanently damage the controller (note that as the ambient temperature decreases, the voltage of the solar panel increases, and the Voc value stated in the panel's parameters is at 25 °C). We recommend that the specified Voc value does not exceed 90 V.
The controller parameters are set via the built-in LCD (the highest version of XDS2) or an external MT50 display, see below.
The main advantage is the use of the latest MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology, which increases the efficiency of the entire system by 30% or more.
MPPT technology ensures maximum utilization of the energy provided by the PV panel by operating at the working point with the maximum output power. This point is continuously monitored and maintained, compensating for all influences of temperature, varying light intensity, etc.
Quick installation:
- Connect the battery to the solar controller. Install a properly rated DC fuse as close to the battery pole as possible on the positive lead (position 3)
- Connect the load (position 4)
- Connect the solar panel (position 2)
