Victron pre-charging cable
Cable for pre-charging capacitors in Victron Energy devices – prevents sparking when connecting the battery.
The pre-charging cable from Victron Energy is used for safe pre-charging of internal capacitors in devices such as inverters, inverter/chargers, or MPPT solar controllers. This procedure prevents sparking when connecting the battery to DC terminals, ensuring higher safety during installation and operation.
- Designed for Victron Energy inverters, inverter/chargers and MPPT controllers
- Enables gradual pre-charging of internal capacitors
- Prevents arc formation (sparking) when connecting the battery
- Simple use: connects to device DC terminals before actual battery connection
- Increases safety and reduces risk of device damage
LED indication
Red LED signals reverse polarity. The cable is not damaged, but must be disconnected and reconnected correctly.
Yellow LED lights up during pre-charging. Internal capacitors are charged with current up to 0.5 A. After pre-charging is complete and battery voltage is reached, the LED turns off.
Usage
1. Connect the negative battery to the inverter.
2. Do not connect the positive battery cable yet.
3. Connect the pre-charging cable between the battery and device:
3.1. Connect the BAT+ crocodile clip to the positive battery terminal.
3.2. Connect the second crocodile clip to the positive input terminal of the inverter, inverter/charger or MPPT. If necessary, use a short extension wire to reach the terminal.
4. Wait until the yellow LED turns off, indicating that the pre-charging process is complete.
5. After pre-charging is finished, disconnect the pre-charging cable and immediately complete the positive battery connection.
