The Victron Buck-Boost is a DC-DC converter designed for charging 12V or 24V service batteries in vehicles with smart alternators (regenerative braking, Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines). The converter charges the auxiliary battery at a preset charging voltage, thereby eliminating high and low voltages.
Running Engine Detection System
The built-in "running engine" detection system prevents deep discharge of the vehicle's starter battery. Instead of this detection system, the converter can also be activated using a programmable input (D+ connection, CAN bus, or (+)15).
Fully Programmable
The converter can be fully programmed using a simple and user-friendly PC application (requires USB-A to USB-B cable). Software download available HERE.
One Product for 12V, 24V, and 12/24V Systems
The converter can be programmed to charge a 12V or 24V auxiliary battery from a 12V or 24V alternator and starter battery.
Charging Current and Input Current Limiter
The output current is determined by the following factors:
- Maximum charging current setting
- Maximum input current setting
- Maximum operational temperature limit of the converter
Input Status Indication (LED)
- Green: converter is on.
- Yellow: input voltage below threshold, converter is off.
- Red: high temperature, converter is off.
- Blue, fast blinking: engine running, converter will start after preset delay.
- Blue, slow blinking: converter is off and activation is blocked due to low input voltage.
Output Status Indication (LED)
- Green: converter is off, battery voltage normal.
- Yellow: converter is off, battery voltage low.
- Red: converter is off, battery discharged or not connected.
- Purple: converter is on.
