Surge protector designed for the protection of photovoltaic equipment. The structure itself, considering weather conditions and mounting method, is made of aluminum alloy (the same material as the supporting profiles of PV panels - no risk of electrochemical corrosion) with hermetically sealed internal circuits in polyurethane resin with an inert filler suppressing combustion.

The unit is designed for easy implementation into the string as a pass-through - both poles of the string connect to the unit and both also exit from it. The connection is made via standard MC4 connectors (with an integrated fuse on the input) and wires with cross-sections of 6 mm2 (in some versions also 10 mm2) with double insulation and color coding.

The connection of the PE wire or connection with LPS elements is made on the unit's chassis using an M10 (M8) screw through a crimped eye on a stranded wire >16 mm2 or directly through a T-screw connection with the supporting structure/LPS down conductor, or a combination thereof.

The SPD unit itself is of class T1 + T2, where due to its above-standard discharge capacity (12/25 kA), application on arrays with less than 4 down conductors is possible (according to ČSN EN 51643-32).

Note:
Due to the specific design and location, it is necessary to measure the residual current at the maximum operating voltage after each interruption of the integrated fuse (due to the operation of the SPD). If it is higher than the maximum manufacturer-specified value, the entire SPD module must be replaced. Indication of fuse interruption is the absence of voltage on the string circuit behind the SPD module.
