The VM-3P75CT meter is designed for measuring power and energy in single-phase and three-phase Energy Storage Systems (ESS), or for measuring the output of a PV inverter, AC generator, or hybrid inverter. It includes integrated Ethernet and VE.Can ports for connection to GX devices, and thanks to the current transformers, it allows for easy and quick installation without the need to modify existing electrical wiring. The meter is fully functional immediately after unpacking (Plug and Play) and serves as a grid meter for most systems. Configuration (using VictronConnect) is only necessary in case of changing the role (Grid Meter, PV Inverter, AC Genset, or AC Load Meter) and manual IP address setting. Information can be displayed on GX devices such as Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, as well as in the VictronConnect app and on the VRM portal.

The meter can be configured for four different roles in GX devices such as Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX:
- As a grid meter and as a control input for an Energy Storage System (ESS)
- For measuring the output of a PV inverter
- For measuring the output of an AC generator
- As an AC meter for measuring dedicated AC load circuits
The meter provides two connection options to GX devices:
- Wired Ethernet connection to the local network via the built-in Ethernet port, for access by GX devices
- Wired VE.Can connection via the integrated VE.Can port directly to GX devices

The meters use a different method for calculating total consumed and delivered energy:
- For the ETXXX series, consumed and delivered energy is calculated separately in each phase and then the sum of these values is used. Therefore, it is suitable for phase measurement.
- For the VM-3P75CT, EM24, EM3XX, EM5XX series, consumed and delivered energy is calculated as total power, with the net differential values from each phase canceling each other out. Therefore, it is suitable for summation measurement.
