The Orion XS is designed from the ground up to redefine adaptive DC battery charging. It is intended for use in systems with dual (intelligent) alternator-charged batteries. This device not only ensures peak performance but also guarantees the safety of your system.

The Orion XS serves as a DC-DC battery charger or power supply, offering a wide range of input and output voltages. This is particularly relevant for vehicles with intelligent alternators like Euro 5 or Euro 6, which often supply too low charging voltage even when the engine is running, or in cases where extended cable lengths, common in boats and recreational vehicles, result in voltage drop. In such cases, precise and controlled charging is essential to fully charge the service battery while protecting the starter/input battery from depletion.

Adjustable Charging Current
Charging current is adjustable with a minimum step size of 0.1 A through VictronConnect.

Compatibility with Intelligent Alternators
The integrated mechanism detects whether the engine is running (engine shutdown detection) and activates the charger only when the alternator is supplying power. This ensures that the charger draws power only when the alternator is supplying power, i.e., when the engine is running.

Adaptive 4-Stage Charging Algorithm
For lead batteries, it is crucial that the absorption time be short when the battery is only slightly depleted to prevent overcharging. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure complete battery charging. Orion XS includes adaptable charging algorithms and eight pre-programmed battery settings.

Low Temperature Shutdown and Input Undervoltage Protection
To prevent damage to lithium batteries, the charger automatically shuts down at low temperatures. It also shuts down when the input voltage drops below a configurable cutoff value and restarts when the input voltage rises above the restart value, protecting the input source (starter battery) from deep discharge.

Remote Switch
Orion XS can be remotely turned on and off using a remote on/off connector or the VictronConnect app. Typical applications include switch connections or battery management system (BMS) setups.

Full Electronic Protection
This protection includes overload, short circuit, and over-temperature protection. The charger is safeguarded against overheating by reducing the output power when the product reaches its maximum temperature.

Parallel Connection for Increased Output Current
The number of units that can be connected in parallel is not limited.

Bluetooth Smart Connectivity
Built-in Bluetooth Smart technology: Wireless solution for adjusting settings, monitoring activities, and updating Orion XS software using smartphones, tablets, or other Apple and Android devices. The VictronConnect App can adjust several parameters. Instant Readout: The VictronConnect app can display key data, including warnings and alarms, on the device list page without the need to connect to the product.

VE.Direct Communication Port
For wired connection to a GX device, such as Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, PC, or other devices. Allows advanced monitoring, control, and diagnostics from anywhere (requires GX device connected to the internet and VRM portal) or locally via remote access console.

IP65 Protection
Orion XS meets IP65 protection rating. This means the product is dust-tight and protected against heavy rain.
