The communication cable/converter enables the connection of a solar controller to a computer. You can connect MPPT Tracer and XTRA solar controllers. These controllers have a proprietary RJ-45 connector with a digital output for system values (RS-485 protocol). The communication cable, along with PC Software, allows these devices to be connected to a Windows PC to read or write data from/to the controller.
With this converter, you can monitor the energy flow from the solar panel directly on your computer screen. Additionally, it allows you to display battery voltage, solar panel voltage, or temperature. The advantage of this solution lies in the ability to save all this information to a file for further processing (e.g., creating graphs).
The controller provides the following values:
- Battery voltage
- Solar module voltage
- Load current
- Over-discharge voltage
- Full voltage
- Temperature
- Charging current
The following values are displayed as Yes/No:
- Detected load
- Overload
- Short circuit
- Overcharge
- Low battery voltage
- Full battery charge
- Charging
The application is only for reading and saving log data to files. These files can be further analyzed.
The converter comes with a patch cable with RJ-45 connectors and an RS-485/USB converter. The PC application is available among the related documents.
